Hi, I’m Stacey!
I started this blog in 2024 to share my experience doing a no buy year. Then, I broke my leg in January and couldn’t walk for almost four months. Due to that and needing to be able to work from home, I had to buy a bunch of mobility aids. I tried to keep the shopping to a minimum once things went back to (mostly) normal but I still want to do a no buy year, so I’m trying again in 2025. Unless I break another bone, in which case I’m going to assume no buy years are cursed for me.
I have been trying to get my clutter under control since I was in junior high. I love clothing, shoes, and accessories especially. Back then (the 1990s) I also had lots of CDs because I am a big music lover, as well as hundreds of books. I was late diagnosed with ADHD in 2024, which has made my lifelong struggle make a lot more sense! Shopping produces dopamine but having too much stuff is overwhelming and clutters my home. My hope is that this journey through uncluttering will help me push through that overwhelm and I will be able to get to a place where my home and the things in it are manageable.

More About Me
I am a mental health therapist focusing on treating trauma, relationship conflict, and late diagnosed autism and ADHD. I own and run my solo private practice. I am also training to be a holistic wellness and spiritual awakening coach. If that weren’t enough, I also have a tie dye business so that I have something to do with the art that I create. 10% of the tie dye business profits go to animal related charities.
I grew up in Mississippi and currently live in central Mississippi. I am married and we have 3 extremely spoiled dogs. I love animals more than just about anything and I am mostly a vegetarian (pescatarian, I eat seafood but no other meat.) I am an introvert and a homebody so it’s really important to me that my space be comfortable and peaceful.
My favorite place to be, besides home, is outdoors. I love hiking. I also love to travel and see the world. Music is an essential part of my life, as well as podcasts. Most of my downtime is spent on my various crafts, tie dye projects, gardening and DIY projects.
Maximalism
While I want to reduce how much random stuff I own, I do identify more with maximalism than minimalism. I like a lot of color, which you can probably guess from my love of tie dye! I like to fill my home with beautiful things that make me happy and cover my walls with art. I definitely do not want all my surfaces to be clear and my walls to be white and blank.
A lot of decluttering content is focused on minimalism, which isn’t me at all. My goal is not minimalism.
If minimalism isn’t for you but you want to simplify your home, I hope that you find some inspiration here!
